Sunday, September 26th 2010 The web comic, Danny The Diabetic Vampire, has been published using the WordPress blogging software.
A custom theme was developed intended to emphasize the comic strips. Many emerging CSS 3 techniques were used including box-shadow, text-shadow, border-radius and background gradients in addition to @font-face for those modern browsers currently supporting some version of these and browsers that don't (MSIE which supports filters for somewhat the same but fairly lousy effects) should gracefully (if not as beautifully) regress. A mobile style sheet formats the pages into a vertical format for handheld devices.
Twitter and Facebook pages are used to automatically syndicate content produced on the website for subscribers of those social media services with more in the future as popularity dictates.
WordPress was chosen in this case for its specific strengths as an online publishing platform, its simplicity and its ease of use. Never-the-less, several additions had to be developed to round out the site including a contact form (the available plug-ins just didn't cut it) and an image-enriched RSS feed.
